Athmane Bakhta

Research Engineer, PhD

Athmane Bakhta holds a PhD in applied mathematics from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (a French engineering school). He spent fourteen months in Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada) as a postdoctoral researcher and six months in Sorbonne Université as a research engineer in charge of academy-industry partnership research projects. He is specialized in mathematical modeling and numerical simulation with applications to energy. He worked, in collaboration with EDF company and Harvard University, on the theoretical modeling and numerical simulation of photovoltaic processes and developed adaptive numerical methods for the optimization of the photovoltaic efficiency of thin-film solar cells through an inverse problem on the band structure. He joined the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) as a thermal-hydraulics researcher-engineer in 2020. He is interested in the numerical analysis and optimization of the simulation schemes used in CATHARE code. His current work aims at developing adaptive mesh refinement approaches in order to improve the accuracy of the simulation results. The list of his publications is available on Google Scholar.
