Raphaël Préa

Research Engineer, In charge of the CATHARE code
​​Raphaël Préa holds an engineering diploma (master's degree) in nuclear energy engineering from Grenoble INP (Phelma), France, in 2012. He made its final internship in CEA Cadrache studying ALLEGRO GF​R concept.

He first worked at the French Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety Institute (IRSN) where he used CATHARE-3 code to model MSLB transient. Then he joined the CATHARE development team at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energies Commission (CEA) in 2015. He works on the CATHARE-3 3D Module for LWR applications. He contributed to its development and its validation​​. He also contributes to show the capability of the CATHARE code to predict 3D effect in the core. During this period, Raphaël also contribute to non-nuclear studies. In addition, he teaches nuclear reactor modeling with system code at the National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INSTN).

Since, 2024, Raphaël is in charge of the CATHARE code.
